General product information symmetrical bandwidths

General product information Online Corporate

With Online Corporate, your company has access to a super-fast internet, tailored to your needs. The various proposed bandwidths allow you to exchange large files, high-performance navigation, participate in video conferences with a very high quality of image and sound, to quickly synchronize data with remote servers, and finally enjoy services of “cloud computing”.
You can evaluate the usage of your Online Corporate connection thanks to the monitoring service included in the offer. So you can anticipate the need for additional bandwidth. The static IP addressing guarantees a continuous presence on the net. On request, a redundant connection can be made available.
Online Corporate, the most effective way to connect your business to the Internet.

Features

cegecom will, within the scope of existing technical and operational possibilities, provide the customer with symmetric Internet access. This allows the customer to transmit IP packages from and to the Internet. Provision of this service requires a functional subscriber line (SL; copper) or fibre optic line, depending on the type of connection, on the customer’s premises. cegecom reserves the right, where necessary, to realise the subscriber line/ fibre optic line and services via third parties.
Individual features may incur a charge, depending on the product and product variant. The services and features for cegecom Internet connections are described in the following.

Bandwidth

The Online Business connection provides an asymmetrical bandwidth. For more details about available speeds, as well as information about our open Internet, please visit our net neutrality page at www.cegecom.lu

Influence variables on the transmission speed on the customer connection

The transmission speed which can be achieved on the customer’s connection depends on:

– The transmission speed of the selected server of the content provider

– The network load of the Internet backbone

– The terminal equipment used by the customer (PC, operating system and other applications software)

– The respective physical properties of the connecting line, in particular of the line attenuation, which depends on the length and cross-section of the physical line.

Mutual influencing of services on the customer connection

In principle, all types of data traffic are transmitted equally in the cegecom network. In the case of traffic peaks in data traffic, voice and video transmissions are transmitted in priority in order to ensure service continuity. Using voice service will reduce by approx. 100 kbit/s in down- and upload the bandwidth available for Internet connections. Using video services (ex. IP-TV) will reduce the available download bandwidth by approx. 5 Mbit/s, with HD channels by 9 Mbit/s. Controlling the IP-TV will required up to 500 kbit/s upload bandwidth.

Data rate

The transmission rate depends on the physical characteristics of the subscriber line/ fibre optic line. In addition, the effective usable data throughput depends on the transmission package size. When the connection is made available cegecom completes a test certificate documenting the actual achievable data rate at time of handover. This test certificate is then shown to the customer for information.
In the case of copper-based access lines, the maximum possible transmission rate depending on the product chosen is given. If the physical characteristics of the subscriber line do not allow the stated maximum bandwidth, the customer will be allocated a lower bandwidth to ensure the stability of the connection.

Data transfer

The data transfer used by the customer is covered by the monthly fee (true flatrate). There are no additional usage charges for dialup, connection or volume.

Monitoring

The traffic on the individual connection may be measured on request. Data such as incoming and outgoing bandwidths can be measured. Whether and to what extent a measurement is possible largely depends on the grid segment to which the customer is connected. A measurement can only be made after prior technical inspection.
