Restrictions and important notes VOIP Phone

Fax lines

For fax lines, it is recommended that the maximum transmission width be restricted to 9600 kBit/s and that ECM (Error Correction Mode) is deactivated. The precise procedure for deactivation can in most cases be found in the equipment operating manual. If the recommended settings are not used, this may in some circumstances result in interference with the fax transmission.

Pagers / emergency telephones

Pagers, emergency telephones, and burglar and fire alarms, must be designed to operate via IP networks. Correct functioning of the customer system and NGN interface must be ensured through appropriate testing; cegecom cannot guarantee every configuration.

Emergency calls

Nomadic use of the line and/or the line data is not permitted. Emergency calls cannot be made during a power failure. The customer is responsible for ensuring the necessary power supply.

Fraud Prevention / Protection against attacks on PPXs and telephones

The customer has to ensure that the telephone systems and connected terminals are state-of-the-art secured against third party attack. This applies in particular to IP-compatible telephone systems and IP telephones. Default passwords must be replaced with individual, secret passwords. As far as technically and operationally possible, cegecom will attempt to detect atypical calls (e.g. uncontrolled calls from customers to service numbers) and block them with suitable blocking mechanisms. For technical reasons, detection and blocking of calls cannot be guaranteed by cegecom. In the event of a loss, cegecom cannot be held liable.

Restriction of services

cegecom retains the right, with due consideration for the customer’s interest in protection against abuse and in view of consumer protection, to block individual destination telephone numbers, groups of destination telephone numbers or destination countries. A list of all relevant blocks and restrictions, insofar as there are any, shall be provided by cegecom immediately on request.
